Action Fence Company of Chattanooga, family-owned since 1981, installs wood, vinyl, aluminum, chain link, and farm fence in Hixson, Hamilton County, Tennessee, where our office is, on Hixson Pike. Most of Hixson is inside Chattanooga's city limits, where fences 7 feet and under need no building permit; Middle Valley to the north follows Hamilton County's identical 7-foot rule.

Do I Need a Fence Permit in Hixson?

Usually not. Most of Hixson is inside Chattanooga's city limits, where fences 7 feet and under are permit-exempt and permits come from the city's Land Development Office. Middle Valley to the north is unincorporated and falls under Hamilton County Building Inspection, with the same 7-foot rule. We verify which side of the line a parcel is on.

How It Works

How a Fence Gets Built

Four steps from the first visit to the last post. Most residential jobs take about two days on site once materials arrive.

  1. 1

    Consultation

We walk the property, talk through what you need, and recommend options that fit your yard and budget.

  2. 2

    Measure and Proposal

A fence consultant takes precise measurements, then presents a formal proposal.

  3. 3

    Materials Ordered

Once you're under contract, materials are bought and shipped to our storage yard in Sale Creek.

  4. 4

    Installed in About Two Days

On install day the crew meets you for a final look at property lines and gate placement, then builds. The average job takes about two days; size and surprises can change that.

Common Questions

Fence Questions From Hixson

Something else on your mind? Call (423) 842-8700 and ask.

Are you really in Hixson?

Yes. Our office is at 6425 Hixson Pike #4, Hixson, TN 37343, and our materials yard is just up the road in Sale Creek. We've been a family-owned fence company since 1981.

I'm on the lake. Can I fence to the water?

Usually not all the way. TVA holds a flowage easement on most Chickamauga Lake lots, and permanent structures below that line need TVA approval. We'll locate the easement line and fence to it.

Does my HOA have to approve the fence?

In many Hixson subdivisions, yes. Get the architectural committee's approval before the fence goes in, and we'll build the style, height, and layout they approve.
