Action Fence Company of Chattanooga, family-owned since 1981, installs wood, vinyl, aluminum, chain link, and farm fence in Chatsworth, Murray County, Georgia, from our office in Hixson, about an hour away. Chatsworth's zoning caps fences in a required yard at 8 feet and doesn't allow chain link in a residential front yard.

Do I Need a Fence Permit in Chatsworth?

The city's Building and Zoning office confirms the permit step, and the zoning rules are specific. A fence in a required yard is capped at 8 feet; an ornamental fence up to 6 feet can enclose the whole lot if it sits at least 10 feet off the right-of-way where the curb is the line; and chain link isn't allowed in a residential front yard. Corner lots keep a 25-foot triangle clear above 3 feet. Outside the city, Murray County Land Use and Development caps yard fences at 8 feet and limits agricultural-type fence to the Agriculture district.

How It Works

How a Fence Gets Built

Four steps from the first visit to the last post. Most residential jobs take about two days on site once materials arrive.

  1. 1

    Consultation

We walk the property, talk through what you need, and recommend options that fit your yard and budget.

  2. 2

    Measure and Proposal

A fence consultant takes precise measurements, then presents a formal proposal.

  3. 3

    Materials Ordered

Once you're under contract, materials are bought and shipped to our storage yard in Sale Creek.

  4. 4

    Installed in About Two Days

On install day the crew meets you for a final look at property lines and gate placement, then builds. The average job takes about two days; size and surprises can change that.

Common Questions

Fence Questions From Chatsworth

Something else on your mind? Call (423) 842-8700 and ask.

Can I put chain link in my front yard in Chatsworth?

Not inside the city. Front yards take ornamental fence up to 6 feet, set back from the right-of-way. Chain link is fine on the sides and rear.

What about a farm outside town?

Murray County allows agricultural-type fence in the Agriculture district. Field fence with a top rail and farm gates suits the poultry and cattle operations.

Can you handle the mountain-edge lots?

Yes. Lots toward Fort Mountain are steep and rocky. We rack panels to the grade and drill posts where the rock is shallow.
